To celebrate the launch of Little Miss Inventor, and in the spirit of creativity, Mr Men Little Miss held a competition with Little Inventors where children were asked to enter their wackiest ideas to win the chance of being written into an upcoming Mr Men Little Miss title.
The newest addition to the classic series, Little Miss Inventor, uses her brainpower and creativity to think up inventions to help her friends. Fans, aged between 3–7 years, were tasked with helping Little Miss Inventor come up with an idea for her clumsy friend Mr Bump to avoid accidents. There was a fantastic response with over 850 children taking part—you can check out all of the amazing entries here: mrmen.littleinventors.org/ideas
Five fans have now been shortlisted and re-drawn in the style of the classic book series. The top five will be displayed at the Little Miss Inventor launch this Saturday (March 24), here at the Museum of Science and Industry, where the winner will also be announced. You can see the shortlisted designs here:
We are eager for as many young budding inventors as possible to come down to the event this Saturday. Not only will you get the chance to meet Little Miss Inventor herself, you’ll also get to explore the shed where she creates all of her ideas, discover the newest story and hear inspiring talks from speakers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and, of course, inventing.
The event will start at 10.00, and visitors will have the chance to meet Little Miss Inventor at 10.30, before the competition winner is announced at 10.45. Then, throughout the day there will be storytelling, more chances to meet Little Miss Inventor and brilliant tales from people working in STEM about their inventions and achievements.
